How to plan a padel holiday in Spain

When to go, where to play, coaching or just courts, and the logistics that make or break a padel trip to Spain.

Spain is the home of padel. More courts per person than anywhere else, coaches who have played the game all their lives and a climate that lets you play outdoors almost all year. No surprise that more and more players are planning a trip around it. This guide walks you through the decisions that make the difference between a good padel holiday and a great one.

    1. Pick the right time of year

Spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November) are the sweet spot: warm enough to play in shorts, cool enough to train hard in the middle of the day. Summer works too, but on the Costa del Sol and in Mallorca you will want to play early in the morning and keep the afternoons for the beach. Winter is mild in the south, so a February trip to Málaga or Marbella is a real option if you want to escape the cold back home.

    2. Choose your destination

Each destination has its own feel. Marbella is the classic padel holiday, with great clubs and plenty to do in the afternoons. Málaga is easy to reach from almost any European airport, with a real city next to the coast. Mallorca combines island life with one of the busiest padel scenes in Spain around Palma.

    3. Be honest about your level

The best padel trips are the ones where you play with people of your level. A mixed group where one player is a beginner and another plays competitive tournaments is frustrating for everyone. If you are travelling with friends of different levels, ask for groups split by level so everyone gets the right training. Not sure what your level is? Describe how often you play and whether you use the walls, and a good coach will place you in minutes.

Groups are split by level, so every session is played at the right pace.

    4. Coaching or just courts?

Booking courts on your own is cheap, but you will mostly play the same way you play at home. With coaching, every session has a goal: wall play, positioning at the net, the bandeja and the vibora, or match tactics. Look for coaches certified by the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) who speak your language, so the feedback actually lands.

    5. Think about the logistics before you land

This is where most self-organised trips go wrong. Courts are booked at the wrong time, the hotel is a 30-minute drive from the club and nobody has a car. Before you book anything, check three things:

    • How far is the hotel from the club, and how will you get there every day?
    • Are the courts and the coach blocked for your group at fixed times?
    • Who do you call if something changes?

That last point matters more than it seems. On our camps you have one contact for the whole trip, and the transfers between the hotel and the club are organised for you. Here is how it works.

    6. Weekend camp or private trip?

    • Weekend camp: fixed dates, four days and three nights, players grouped by level. Ideal if you travel alone or as a couple. See the open dates.
    • Private camp: your dates, your destination, your group. From one player upwards. Build your private camp.
    • Team building: padel as a company event, from a half-day clinic to a full trip. Padel team building.

    7. What to pack

    • Your racket and a spare grip
    • Padel shoes with a herringbone or omni sole
    • Light technical clothing, a cap and sunscreen
    • A water bottle you can refill at the club
    • Something nice for dinner: the evenings are part of the trip
